箱根の名品をご紹介します。
Himitu-bako
Himitu-bako is a name given to small box made by combining puzzle-mechanism with cabinetwork technique. These boxes first appeared in the Edo-era, when the principle of trick-mechanism was first developed. The technique was perfected in the middle of the Meiji era, and since then, continuous improvements have been made to complete the Himitu-bako to perfection as they are found today. To open the box, each box must be rotated, turned and moved a specific number of times(steps). Full of surprises and unique ideas, boxes such as these cannot be found anywhere else in the world.
ひみつ箱
小指物技法の中にパズル的な機構を組み込んだ小箱類のことをひみつ箱といいます。江戸時代からの「からくり」の原理を小箱類に応用したのが始まりで明治中期にはこの技法が完成し、その後多くの改良が加えられ、今日にいたっています。箱の開く回数も様々で、他では見られない極めて独創的でアイデアに富んだ商品です。

Terifuri Dolls
The terifuri doll are unique in that the part of the axis sticking out from the root senses the humidity in the air, which then twists so that either the boy or the girl doll rotates and is pushed outside the doorway depending on the weather. Being one of the most popular souvenirs of Hakone, they are often out of stock, and hard to obtain.

屋根のてっぺんにある軸が空気の湿気具合を感じてねじれることによって、人形が動くという、ユニークな置物です。

Yosegi-zaiku
Yosegi-zaiku handicraft, known for its beautiful geometrical design of repeated linear patterns, developed in Hakone in the last days of the Tokugawa shogunate. Various types of wood pieces are arranged to form a pattern, then smoothed with a plane and shaved into thin sheets. The patterned thin sheets are then used as surface decoration of various handicrafts. Woodwork made by arranging actual wood pieces together is called "muku".
寄木細工
幕末の頃、箱根畑宿で創作された手工芸品です。幾何学的直線形の繰り返し模様がとてもきれいです。木を寄せ合わせ模様を作り、かんなで削り、模様材として、表面加飾に利用されます。材料をそのまま使ったものを「ムク」といいます。

It is a kind of the Hakone-Zaiku transmitted from ancient times to Hakone, and a potter's wheel is used, and it is handmade business, and is the interesting work finished carefully one by one. It is the handicraft which does not have a successor now, either and has scarcity.
ろくろ細工
昔から箱根に伝わる箱根細工の一品で、手作業にて、ろくろを使い、一つ一つ丁寧に仕上げた味わいある作品です。 今は、後継者もない現状で、希少性のある工芸品です。
Moku-Zogan
Moku-Zougan(Marquetry)design is arranged by piecing together various types of wood to form a picture or a design. The Moku-Zougan handiwork has been passed down from the Edo period, and over the years, craftsmen succeeding this technique have continued to make improvements to perfect the technique to what it is today. Please enjoy this traditional art, created only from natural wood.
木象嵌細工
いろいろな樹種の木材をはめ合わせて模様を表現する細工を木象嵌といいます。江戸時代から伝わるこの工芸品は、技法も多くの技術者によって改善継承され、今日にいたっています。自然の木のみを用いたこの伝統工芸品をご堪能下さい。

Wooden Puzzle Blocks are designed so that the rectangular wooden blocks can be assembled to form a certain shape without the use of any adhesive. The nunber of blocks to conplete a single shape ranges from 3 pieces to over 100 pieces, with a variety of different assembling and disassembling patterns. The technique for disassembling the completed blocks is to find that one special block, which is the key to the whole structure. Why not challenge this puzzle yourself.
組み木玩具
